Below we are going to describe several possible ways of getting to Lloret de Mar and you decide which option suits you the best. So, let’s go!
TRANSFER SERVICE, it is certainly the easiest and hassle-free way. You will be awaited and met at the airport by a driver who will have a greeting banner with your name on it, and will drive you straight to the known-in-advance hotel. What is important is that it can be at any time of the day, even at night. The journey takes a little bit more than 1 hour. Such transfers you can order with your travel agent or directly with us online by clicking here.
TAXI is another easy way to arrive in Lloret de Mar but more expensive than the Transfer Service. Taxis stand at the airport exit, there you have to stand in the queue (usually moves quickly) and get into the car. This method also works around the clock, however, at night there is an additional charge. In order to avoid straying in Lloret de Mar, it is desirable to know the exact address of the hotel because the taxi driver is likely to use a GPS navigator to bring you to your destination.
GENERAL TRANSFER, it is when your tour operator meets you and other arriving tourists at the airport, gathers you all in a bus and then delivers people to their respective hotels. The main benefit – it is a budget option, no need to think about anything and is usually offered/included with your travel package. Among the few drawbacks, it is possible that the tour operator will collect tourists with different number of flights and hotels which perhaps, will make the entire process very long and stretched in time, plus the actual road from Barcelona Airport to Lloret de Mar (not counting the the stops at different hotels) takes the bus about an hour and a half to complete.
ATTENTION, the following options are not valid if you arrive late in the evening or at night.
The most budget option if you are coming with only few things , and everyone feels cheerful, then it is a great start of your holiday! Also a nice way to immediately plunge into the local life! So, hop on a train right at the airport and get out at the station of Sants (still Barcelona), then transfer to another suburban train (runs every 30 mins.) and ride all the way to the station of Blanes (a town near Lloret de Mar), you can see a picture of the station in the photo below. There in Blanes, get off the train and go to the building, come in through the turnstile on the other side (or just follow everyone).
Once you are past the turnstile, get on a bus like the one in the picture below. Bus tickets can be purchased from the bus driver and as of September 25th, 2012 – they cost €1.65/person. You can get a taxi from Blanes as well, but it will cost you 15-20 euros.
And after 20-25 minutes you will arrive in Lloret de Mar, at the local bus station!
Then you can get either on foot or by taxi to your hotel.
The total travel time from Barcelona Airport to Lloret de Mar with this method is 2-2.5 hours.
TRAIN + BUS from Barcelona
This method may be less convenient if you are trying to get from the airport, but it can be best used to move to Barcelona and back. In Barcelona buses depart from the bus station Estacio del Nord, located near the metro station Arc de Triomf and go to Lloret de Mar and Tossa de Mar.
You can check the bus schedule by copying the following address into your web-browser:
BUS from Barcelona Airport
Or you can just take a bus directly from the Barcelona Airport which departs from Terminal T2 and goes straight to Lloret de Mar and then Tossa de Mar. However, you need to keep in mind it runs only 4-6 times a day and you might not catch a place during the high season times.
